Default A Stolen Guitar Registry thingy...

    Hi guys

Just thought I'd let you all know that after a lot of thinking about it, I have finally got round to creating a Stolen Guitar Register thingy.

Basically, the idea is a means for anyone who has had any gear stolen to record the details and have as good a chance as possible to have that information spread around in the hope that someone might spot it.

It's a website, which is integrated into Facebook, with simple sharing and also making use of Facebook's "Open Graph" sharing (once it is approved).

This means, each time an item is posted on the website it is automatically posted to the sites Facebook wall, thus it will appear (subject to Facebooks newsfeed algorithms) in the News Feed of all users connect to the Facebook page or App. It will also, simultaneously post a "*UserName* report an item on GuitarTrak" type post directly into the users friends "Ticker" and a little box on their profile.

Each post on the website can be shared directly and Tweeted by simple buttons on each post, the info can also be sent to any email.

If anyone locates anything posted on here, they can contact the police force it was reported to directly, or if no police details, then the user that posted it.

... anyway, as with any social enterprise, it will only work if people get behind it, so please "Like" the FB page at :

    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Guita...130?ref=stream

And if you've ever had anything nicked posted the details on

    http://www.guitartrak.com/

(don't post the stolen item stuff on the FB page, the website does that for you - well, will do when FB approve it's action)

(PS for the Forum Mods, this is not a SPAM business promotion, this is a non profit making enterprise aimed at helping people get their gear back!)

    Brilliant idea!

I would contact the police, I'm sure they'd find it of interest.

    Great idea! Liked.

I assume the strat I had stolen back in 1988 still won't be recovered though... lets hope some people do get their gear back!

    Thanks guys

Facebook have now approved the "Report" action which means that anything reported on there will now go straight into a Time Line/News Feed for extra visibility.

    Nice one.

I wonder if a non-guitar-specific name/service might drive wider adoption, aimed at whole bands rather than just guitarists?
    Red ones are better.
