I'm using mine in front of a cleanish amp for delays mostly, plus the occasional weird effect. Using a Fuzz Factory clone for distortion. I'm also finding the balanced out useful for getting clean signals into the 'puter for use with Guitar Rig, whose amp sims I prefer. One of these days when I have anything serious to record, I'm going to have 1) mic on guitar amp 2) effected output from G3 and 3) uneffected balanced out for use with GR. You can never have too many options.....

My top tip for the 3X (with the pedal) is not to have the pedal assigned to volume - the number of times I've connected all my gear up for it not to make any noise and spent the next 5 minutes checking leads etc only to find the pedal is "up". How embarrassing.

A topic for a different discussion I think, but when you're recording, oh yes you can! Best thing you can do is get the best single sound you can at the time then move on, nothing worse than getting to mix time and having three different tracks for each take and spending hours trying out different balances. Perfect way to lose the forest for the trees!

I use mine for recording mainly. The Fender Deluxe amp sim is great, I don't really use the other sims. Agree that the delays are excellent. The reverbs are OK but no comparison to a proper amp spring reverb or to a dedicated digital unit.

I'm not 100% sold on the multi-fx concept though. I may well return to amp plus a couple of pedals. I like analog. But for what it is, the Zoom is one of the best for the price.

Don't want to hijack the thread but interested in one of these units.
People seem to have very positive comments? Good reviews.
For the money are they best option out there at present?
mainly home use with maybe a little live going forward.
    Thanks

I did quite a bit of research before buying mine and for the price there is very little you can compare it to especially if you want the drum machine and looper functions. For live it's ideally suited for providing mods and delay in the loop, but personally I wouldn't use it for drive (especially as it can't be 4 wired)

Yep, no fx loop, and if I had one not sure I would know what to do with it.

I picked up a second hand Zoom G3 last week and I'm seriously impressed. It will replace my M13 for gigs, smaller lighter and on a par if not a little better than the Line6 sound wise. I found the M13 too big for many of the pubs I play, when you consider I usually have the legs of a Mic stand & a monitor wedge in front of me already it was sometimes difficult to squeeze in the M13. There's a couple of Line6 effects that I'll miss like the octoverb but the Zoom also has some nice effects that the M13 does not, I really like the auto wah and 'cry' effects, very musical and inspiring to play. The looper is also one of the best I've some across with the ability to set the number of bars and sync with the drum machine, you don't need to worry about stopping the loop right on time. Some of the amp models are excellent too especially the 1959 Marshall which goes from clean break-up to classic rock very easily and is very dynamic. All in all this thing is an exceptional piece of kit, when you consider the price it's a no brainer. Actually I might consider getting another one (one for in front of the amp & one for the FX loop). The software is cool and easy to use also much like the unit itself. Highly recommend!
