    Default Post your Racks...

Inspired by the thread on the new Laney rack unit.. seems racks are on the comeback.. so if you have one already.. post it valve or digital.. they all count.

Well, I'm cheating because I got rid of my rack nearly two years ago, but this was its final incarnation, controlled by a Rocktron All Access+ Ernie Ball jr expression pedal.

Looked cool as fuck on club stages but I eventually got bored of needing help to move it and the way it would frequently only fit through doors if you made sure your fingers were out of the way. In some ways I miss it, but in others I'm glad it's gone. I was so happy when I sold it all and got a pedalboard that basically did as much tonally for a tenth of the weight.

    Default Rack-volution

I've had a rack rig since the early 90's.

At one point I had a Triaxis/Mesa 50/50 rig but don't have any digital copies of that rig.
At some point in the late 90's I bought a Mesa Rack Rectifier (I was told that Matt Bellamy had this particular amp, not sure if it was true- I didn't care I just wanted a rack recto) and I built this behemoth for the studio:

At some point I pared it down to this:

The Recto and the Mesa Blue Angel worked great together but it was still too much to carry so I pared it down to just this:

Eventually I made my way into the Axe FX.
I put this together a couple of years ago:

It sounded killer but the rack was around 40kg so I ended up going for a Matrix amp and updating to the Axe FX 2.

The Matrix amp is the first prototype GT800FX that I did some testing of for Matrix.

Since V9 firmware of the Axe FX I ditched the Echoplex from the live rig.
Now I just take a 4u rack with the Axe FX and the Matrix amp plus a pedalboard and whatever guitars I need.
Often I run direct and use in ear monitors, sometimes I take the Zilla cab.

I am considering upgrading to the 2u Matrix GT1000 as I'd like a power amp with a quieter fan.

    Well it started like this.

However it now looks like this.

But as I still have the Mesa power amp I may well turn it into a wet/dry/wet rig.

    I started off with this.

I then discovered that transporting and wirinf it all together was more time than I could be bothered with so I binned off my TVerb and got a Matrix GT800FX. I was still having problems with levels, so I reclaimed my sanity by getting an AF2 and moving the pedals on.

I am now running a FRFR rig which has made my life a lot easier. Even when going Wet/Dry/Wet
