My Ceriatone OTS after I rewired the heaters (up in the air), and orientated the signal caps correctly, over Christmas. Did some other minor mods to the tone stack and v2b snubber caps. Next up is remove the FET input and create 3 different tone stacks, switcheable.

And a lovely job you made or it too. Was it any quieter after the heater re-wire?

Not noticeably, though it was very quiet before. The amp is brighter and more responsive now with the other changes (caps orientation and slope R to 100k)

If I could figure out how to put a Tweed Vibrolux preamp onto a Tweed Deluxe power stage I might eventually have something to add here, alas though, I know nothing about electronics!

I too am fascinated but lacking in the knowledge and skills. My brother and a couple of (should be famous) amp techs have bailed me out of two Ampmaker projects. But at least I have an inkling now of what is involved and my admiration for all the above builders knows no bounds.

That said I am inclined to keep it very simple now. Not for me the endlessly tweakable amps - I just add modular tone stacks (fx pedals) to very basic boxes.

A propos I am in the market for an Ampmaker Double-Six if anyone has one they aren't using

Why a Tweed Deluxe power stage? Just build a Vibrolux with smaller transformers and use 6V6's.

Tweed Vibrolux uses 6V6s in fixed bias, cf the Tweed Deluxe in cathode bias.

The Vibrolux used a 10" speaker, The Deluxe a 12".

I slightly prefer the sound of the Vibrolux, and obviously you have the have the tremolo feature in the Vibrolux which I really like.

Building a Tweed Vibrolux pre-amp into a Tweed Deluxe would be relatively straight forward (essentially you would have a cathode biased Vibrolux). Adding the tremolo feature would require a little more though, but is feasible.

    Both are great amps though.

I thought a vibrolux was 6L6's, but not really a Fender amp expert (actually not any sort of expert)
