    Congrats, that's great news!

Definitely get the best legal advice you can. Some guys I know who got signed ended up mired in debt without releasing a single record.

Great thks , they look interesting. I have a meeting with the UK end of the operation next week. What is pleasing is the lawyer I have been speaking to was very complimentary about the producer /writers who are funding the project and told me thay have a very good reputation in the industry.

What was interesting is they wanted links to you tube and info about the people involved. I suppose this was to assess if this was just some small guy with a studio in his garage or serious people. Once I told them the names they seem to have become very interested . I suppose they hope that if she makes it they could land a big client.

I will certainly get qoutes from both , but I do also remember my daughter mentioning something about them paying for the lawyer up front , though I expect this could become an expense in the future.

Again thks again as there is nothing better than a personal recomendation

OK got the contract. Glad it was a simple one ! Blimey it is complicated. Will get a lawyer to look at it . Will contact Clintons...

What I am please is that the acting has clearly been excluded from the 360.

In simple terms is is a album deal with the split 70/30 in favour of my daughter , but with of course production costs coming from her split or production advance. They also get 15% of the 360. For this they will produce/mix, etc the masters. Co write (two writers she has been working with for 18 months already).

They will be responsible to market her and either get a record deal or come to an agreement with distributors direct. All seems to be with mutual agreement. She has ownership of the masters and can get her own deal independant on them , but if she does there is a set production fee of $25,000 per master.

Overall it seems fair , if nothing takes off she has no liability to any costs . They all only get paid if she succeeds. If she succeeds well then they can make a lot (which is fair) , but if it fails they take all the risk.....

She has grounded herself and has not had a drink for 2 weeks now as she is protecting her voice....gosh she is growing up...

The Reverend Lord Henry was not one of those new-fangled parsons who carry the principles of their vocation uncomfortably into private life.

    Thanks will invest in them...

Seems cheap to what lawyers are talking about for a simple 8 page agreement...
Looks like up to £2000 plus VAT....no Gas for me for a few years. Was having to replace my garden fence after putting it off for years , looks like that takes a back seat as well. If they charge that for a 8 page , what do they charge for a 100 page record deal !

OK , things went a little Odd with the lawyers (not Clinton) . He sent me a wealth of advice I had not asked for . I just asked for a qoute. He asked to see the contract and then sent me a lot of advice , and then followed up with his rate if I want to go forward.

He said he had never seen a contract like it before. He said it turns the usual production deal on it's head. He told me usually the producer has all the rights to the masters , but under this deal my daughter has the rights. However, if she goes her own way with them the production company gets paid an agreed fee and royalties , which amount 5% of PPD and 15% of 360 , and their production fee per master. If they continue to work with her and find her a deal with a label (the real objective) they get the production advance , and a share (15%) of the record deal . I had a meeting with them on wednesday , and my gut tells me they are the right people. The lawyer has given me a number of pitfalls to watch for , but I can see how we can deal with them if we get that problem in the future. What was really interesting is their take on where the industry is going. With people now sticking things up on youtube and other people loading with Mp3 convertors , they see that it is impossible to stop this. Instead they see that the way forward is to roll with it , and make better use of artist websites. This could also be the way to take itunes away from the stranglehold they have at the moment....

Scary and exciting all at once...
