    Default What's this thing?

Neol is the guy with the blue strat playing into a Vox amp.On top of the amp nearest the bass drum is a smallish box.Thinking it might be an old chorus pedal? Looks a bit like a 4 track recorder. Could be a teasmade for all I know. I like his guitar sound on this and there is a cool little delay going on so just curious if that could be the source of it.

I thought I saw an led readout that looked a lot like a guitar tuner but I could be wrong. Most of the multi-effects units out today have built in tuners so that might be what it is.

Ah, could be. Not very exotic though!

    That, sir, is a Johnson J-Station. http://www.johnson-amp.com/jstation.htm

Used to have one, they were about the only serious competition for the POD when they first came out; good bit of kit!

    Ahh.

Well, Neol has been playing since, I dunno, early 70's I think and has/had a shed load of strats and AC30's and all sorts from what I've read, had hit records and toured the world so interesting to see he had the J Station going there (I'm guessing for the delay). There is one on eBay with a BIN of £45. Perhaps it would be the missing link in my search for ultimate tone...

    I remember them!

I played one back to back with a POD before I bought the Line6. They were pretty nice, but not quite as good as the POD for crunchy stuff. They also did some all singing all dancing function band mega amp called the Millenium IIRC.

I don't think it's going to be your missing link I'm afraid.

I like the guitar sound in that clip. I guess the moral being that it isn't just about what you've got its how you use it.

Actually an onstage teasmade really appeals to me.

That 'thing' is the writer of some classic 2nd wave Ska tunes sir! Although you can't mention the band with his name as I believe it's been trademarked by Ms Black...

Btw, really enjoyed that so thanks for posting, great suit too.
