I think Natalie is trying to get someone to do her job for her.

Isn't it a little bit morally bankrupt?

That's pretty much how all gigs on the London toilet circuit work in my experience.

I don't have a problem with it when I'm playing in original material bands as I feel that they are giving you a platform to play on and it's your job to promote your band. When I'm doing covers then I'm the turn and I want decent money and someone else should be doing the promoting.

What about the five half hour sets with ten minute between each?

I think most of the sets I did were 45 minutes, but that included your set up time so that's pretty much the same.

It was usually 3 bands though I suspect that might have changed with the advent of late licensing.

Half an hour including changeover is not worth leaving the house for. Inevitably one band runs over or is slow getting off-stage which means everyone else plays 3 songs each. I've been there once and I'll never do it again.

I donl't believe there is a single band who can regularly get 20+ people to a gig that hasn't realised that if that's the case theres another promoter somewhere else who will treat them properly.

The thing about having a unique name is they are easily found on Facebook.
