Cool, thanks for spending the time on this thread :-) i have learnt a bit of music theory but mainly things like notes in the major scale, note. In major chords etc.

If you can offer me something and you dont want it to look like your spamming the forum then let me know via pm otherwise post details in this thread and it might be of help to others as well. Ive got an open mind in regards to lessons as it might be what i need to push myself on tbh

Default The "Find X note" game

About to head to bed but here is a useful game for unlocking the guitar neck.
    Strap a guitar on.
Pick a note at random- let's start with Eb.

You have to find all of the Eb's you can on the guitar neck, in pitch order.
You can time it if you want but I'd suggest not rushing it.
    Be swift but don't rush.

Then pick another note and repeat.
    And again... etc.
Do this for 5 mins per day.

    Happy to help.
I post fairly often on music theory stuff so it isn't like people haven't heard it from me before.
I'm actually not really looking for any more students right now but I can fit in an hour here and there.

I'll PM you tomorrow and we can talk about it.

VERY interesting, thanks! (I feel a bit like I'm eavesdropping here!)

Nice bit of learning before bed - I understand where I wend wrong, and understand the corrections, so that's good! (answer 7 was a "calculation error" on my behalf... ahem)

    It is all about consistency.
People tend to do a lot in a short space of time, then it starts to tail off and the practice time falls away.

15 minutes a day, 6 days a week for a year of STRUCTURED practice time is much better than 2 hours a day for a month and then not much at all.
Obviously 1-2 hours a day for a year is the way to go- but the key here is structured practice.
You can do 5 hours of widdling and never get anywhere.
    Many do.

It helps to set short/medium and long term goals.
The short and medium-term goals need to support the overall long term goal.
I'll flick you a PM now.

That was a good work out for the grey matter. I seem to know bits and pieces of a lot of theory but find it hard to recall it in a reasonable time scale and wish I could link it together. Q 2,4,7,8 took me several minutes to work out and I did not know 9 and 10. Then again I know all the PMS of the modes, so you can see I rush into things and get ahead of myself.

I need to find 20 minutes a day to do just theory without having to compromise the actuall time playing the guitar, I don't get a lot of time, I should be well learned in theory with the years on guitar behind me, but like the O.P, I too can be lazy, but also strapped for real quality time.
