Now I think about it, it was almost certainly done with their old DeVerb plug.

I swung by the AudioDamage store a couple of days ago to pick DeVerb up but it's no longer available I even e-mailed Chris about it (being a hopeless optimist!)
A plate reverb (Like their excellent Reverence) as a send followed by a bitrot plug like MDA Degrade will get part of the way there, I guess.

Thanx for upping those samples btw

    Why thank you very much!

I got what I was after just by using a noise gate in conjunction with a reverb. What's bitrot though?

Ah got ya..Never heard that term before. Yeah, I have tried similar stuff and other weird things on reverb returns as well. Sidechaining reverb returns yeilds some interesting results too but it's a bit away from the gated stuff.

On about 'low quality' reverbs, there's a definite shortage of these in my plugin collection. I have a few freebies but those are different..

I'd like some high quality ones that are pretending to be lower quality, not crap sounding ones that are crap because they are, actually crap.

I'm looking to get Audio Damage 'Ratshack Reverb'. This sounds exactly what I could do with but if anyone knows of any freebie stuff of a similar vein lemme know please.

( It doesn't have to have to be able to do a gated reverb, I can do that after )

Yeah, I quite often put a bit of modulation after a reverb or flip the channels left / right with about 25ms predelay, which gives a big artificial stereo effect with panned sounds. Sidechainings an interesting idea tho- not thought of that - ta!
I can't think of a deliberately lofi reverb right now but one of my favourite freebies that doesn't try to be anything posh is PSP Springverb- it's very authentic IMO and certainly gives stuff like e- piano a period feel.

Yeah the Ratshack Reverb is definitely like this. Is that PSP Springverb a cover disk plug?

So are the 8bitBeatBox ones the CR-78? They sound great. I will be stealing this kick from now on.
