Default Tokai mkII pafs , anyone tried em ?!

I've got a tokai semi on its way and I wondered what the stock pickups are like . I haven't owned a tokai in ages but I do remember the pickups getting mixed and lukewarm reviews !

    Anyone tried em ?!

I had some, they were okay - replaced them with a Seymour Duncan Jazz in the neck and a Creamery 59 in the Bridge, a triple shot on the neck and varitone option on the whole thing.

I tinker badly... the original pickups were very good and sold on teh bay for £50 to offset my custom desires.

The ones I had we're ok but nothing to get excited about. I preferred the toneriders in the end and picked up a set off ebay for the same price I sold the tokai pups.

I actually replaced a set of seth lover's with MK II's and preferred the MK II's. My main Les Paul has a set of RD P1's in there and I have another with Peter Florance Voodoo 59's, which do have the edge on the MK II's but were 4x the price

I have had them in two mid-high end Tokai LPs. They are pretty good (much better than Epi stock pups and suchlike).

I was happy with the neck MKII but the bridge was too hot for my taste (I'm a 7-8KΩ kind of guy) so eventually swapped the set for SD Antiquities in the 2nd LP. Absolutely loved the swap, but the Tokai pups are more than adequate, especially if you like a bit of oomph from the bridge.

Although the Tokai's measure hot, 12K ohms I believe, they don't sound it to my ears, very vintagy PAF

They are not bad, I prefer Bare Knuckle Stormy Monday's though which would be great in a semi.
