As promised some details of the issues:
Firstly there is the registration issue which is quite obvious.
Secondly the search seems to miss things. Just to pull an example take this thread: http://forum.musicradar.com/showthre...Holiday-Monday
If I search for "Mansons" I would expect to find it, but I don't
Thirdly there is a cookie problem whereby the cookie bb_thread_lastview gets corrupted resulting in all new threads showing as 4xxs (If it helps I think this is the cookie which determines which threads you have recently looked at). Deleting that cookie solves the problem, but I expect people who aren't web developers wouldn't twig that. I think the cookie is getting too big for nginx to handle. I suspect this might be the issue: http://blog.craz8.com/articles/2009/...-do-about-them which you should be able to fix provided you have access to the nginx config.

Hurm. I'm not sure a big cookie is the issue there, but could you next time send me a copy of the contents of the cookie, or explain how I could replicate it. (That's if your happy for me to see the contents of that cookie)

Everything else is just inconvienence, but the non-registration thing is REALLY frustrating, it doesn't take a genius to realise that if people can leave but no one can join that the health of the forum is only going to go downhill fast.
Yes, it frustrates me too but I can't currently do anything about it as its out of my control.

It takes quite a long time before it goes wrong but it always eventually does. I will endeavour to send you a copy next time I have a problem.
I think the cookie tracks the threads which you have and havent visited so it can display them as bold or not as appropriate. As a result the cookie keeps getting bigger and bigger over time and if I understand the issue correctly the maximum cookie size supported by most browsers is bigger than the size of the client header buffer in a default nginx instal.

I suspect vbulletin assumes an Apache environment which doesn't have this cookie issue.
