Default Vox Night Train Standby switch

    Hi all
I have a night train 15 head, which so far has been reliable and lovely. However, switching the standby on and off makes a slightly disconcerting boom! noise through the speakers. I've been reading about standby switch problems with the old CC AC series, and wondering if there's a problem with this amp too?

Fortunately nothing's broken on it- I'm just conscious that other valve amps I've owned haven't done it!
    All advice gratefully etc etc!

I remember when I had mine it did the same thing. It's not uncommon for the standby switch in an amp to make a pop. It won't have the same issue as the CC series - the problem there is caused by the implementation of the standby switch in relation to the valve rectifier. The Night Train isn't valve rectified, so that wouldn't happen here.

Yes, it should be fine. As Cirrusband says there's no valve rectifier so the standby switch isn't an issue. It still may be technically in the wrong place - hence the 'boom' - but it shouldn't cause any other problems.

Thanks guys, like I say it hasn't caused a problem, but it's a relief to hear it's unlikely to!
