Default Cheap courier, Leicester -> York

    Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a cheap courier service to get an amp head and 4x12 delivered from Leicester to York?

    According to the seller:

    "the cab is 30 x 30 x 14" and weighs about 40 kilo the head measures 28 x 12 x 12" and weighs about 60 kilos"

I've got quotes from Parcel2Go etc, but it's coming in at like £70/£80

    Anyone know anything cheaper?

    R.

Just some food for thought, York to Leicester and back is about 240 miles. Assuming you don't have the most fuel thirsty car ever I reckon that would cost you about £30 in fuel. Less if you drive steady.

Yup, that's my fallback plan - just trying to avoid the drive!

    Head weighs 60kg?

The downside with a 240 mile drive is it is a 4 hour round trip before you include chatting to the seller and loading up, and you might hit traffic too. You could easily lose half your day to it. £30 but potentially a lot of lost free time vs £70/80 to get a delivery isn't really worth the money saving in my book, but I totally understand wanting a cheaper price.

    Try http://www.shiply.com/

You advertise what you want to shift, and then couriers/man with van types basically look to fill space on journeys they've already got planned. Just a way of them maximising each journey by filling the lorry.

Yeah, Traynor YGL-3A - it's a beast. I have one of the combo versions already. V. heavy.
