I must say I absolutely hate Sessionette amps though I do also admit they hugely divide opinion!

I will also admit that they're reasonably reliable, although not as bombproof as some other solid-state amps, especially now they're getting old. It's the sound I really don't like though.

It does seem that the relationship with Stewart Ward can divide opinion a bit too...

(And I admit that probably my favourite amps - Mesa Rectifiers - also hugely divide opinion.)

Many moons ago I met someone who had one of the Shadows type special edition Sessionettes. That seemed really nice ( as played through by him, not me!), although they seemed to be vast sums of money for what they were at the time ( £150 for one on eBay now though, hmm).

The only defence of the Mesa Rectifier is Bernard Allison. ICBM , if you are he then I am not worthy. Although, based on your previous posts, seems unlikely that you are a black American guy living in France playing funky blues for a living.

    No, not him .

To be fair, my liking for the Rectifier is largely based on the Trem-o-verb (Lindsey Buckingham, Jeff Buckley, Peter Buck, Mike Einziger, Nick McCabe among others) rather than the standard Dual Rectifier... but I can get great sounds out of those too.

But I'm sure Bernard Allison proves just as effectively that the Rectifier is not just a detuned nu-metal amp.

ZT Lunchbox, Roland Cube, Marshall MG50, Sessionette, Polytone.

Just keep your eye on ebay and gumtree and you'll be able to get a nice bargain.

This song from last night's gig runs through a few tones. The guitar is going through a CS3 compressor, then into a Laney WS120R solid-state 1x12 combo, with a bit of help from a ZT lunchbox + lunchbox cab.
