    Default Headphone amps.

I appologize if this topic has been done to death. I haven't seen any recent threads about them, and thread necromancy is treated like a mortal sin on most forums I frequent.

Anyhow, I'm considering buying a cheapie s/h guitar to take on the road with me to practice with. I drive a big rig, and am soon going to be switched back to long haul. I want to take a guitar with me, as I'll only be getting home every four or five weeks. However, I do NOT want to take either of my good ones and risk them getting beat up, knocked about, broken or stolen. Cheap Squier strats and Starcasters can be had for $75 or less all day long off the online classifieds around here.

There's no room to bring an amp, and no way to power it if I did. Plus I don't want to disturb the drivers in the trucks parked next to me! So are these headphone amps worth buying? I'm not going to be too picky, soundwise- I don't care if it sounds just like xyz Valve amp- just so it isn't actively offensive sounding!

    Thanks, fellas!

Boss micro br 100. runs off batteries and does everything you need. I use one in work everyday though through the mains. Think someone was selling one on here not so long ago. Get one!

Can I suggest an additional bit of kit? If you have a pedal with a proper buffer, buy a Beheringer UCA 202 interface and put Reaper on a usb stick.
Thus equipped you will be able to play thru, even record on any PC you come across, (even the one in hotel reception!) without Administrators permission.

Course, if you are lugging a lappy?????

    Dave.
