    I had similar thoughts...

I've been talking to Jezz for a while now, I produce Wide Range clones, and they are a nice match should his customers want the 'real deal' to go with his Starcaster bodies. I like the idea of bolt on neck semi acoustics ... lots of flexibility with layout there!

Hopefully the reputation you're building on here adding to the fun element!

About to wander off topic just a little ...

I keep changing my mind about what to put in the challenge Tele build that I keep meaning to start. Originally it was going to be a dual P90, then I saw your Diesel Tap and thought that would be more fun - more grunt but with a Tele edge to the sound - paired with mini-HB in the neck. And now I'm having third thoughts ...

I've not tended to like/use standard Tele neck p'ups because they sound (to my ears) too thin/weak compared to the HB-equipped guitars that I normally play. What do I want ???

That's a difficult call! I designed the HardMan 8.5/9k Tele neck because I wanted something for my own personal Tele that was less 'nice' and more gut-bucket bluesy for want of a better phrase. Stonevibe has one in his green Telemaster thang. It all comes down to what you play and how you play it really! I've got addicted to our twin BrassKnuckle Tele demonstrator with the two variable taps ... but that might be too fussy for some in a live situation.

I'd never considered an Esquire before - but I've just spent an hour or two looking at all the different switching options that can be added to a single pickup guitar. And, if that's a *tapped* single pickup guitar, the wiring options just get even more interesting.

Be a bit of a test for the Diesel Tap though ... the guitar would expose the true tone of the pickup with the straight-to-jack switch position. Got to give it a go ...

I've supplied several Diesel Taps for Esquires ... 9k + without any moderation is guaranteed to overdrive the bollocks out of almost any amp. If I know it's going into an Equire, I'll even tend to sneak 500 or so turns into the wind to be evil ... that gives even more versatility as you can club fairly hot humbuckers into submission but still get country 'glass' in the tapped mode.

You'll find an order has just been placed

Now I've just got to build the guitar to do it justice.

One of my finest will be winging it's way to you! There is a mod one of my other customers dreamed up that uses a Strat 5 way to get all the settings without using a push pull. It needed a tiny extension to the switch slot on the Tele plate to allow enough throw to get all positions (or apparently a notch filed in the switch 'blade' does the job without doctoring the plate). I've not tried it myself, but he was chuffed with it, so I might try to lay hands on a diagram if you are interested.
