Default Anyone got Texas Specials in their Tele?

I'm gassing for a partner for my CV Tele.

Haven't got my lazy arse out and tried anything yet but from all the vids I watch on youtube, the TS's seems to have the best tone for me. I used to have a US strat with them in and I loved it but I'm strictly a Tele man now. I think Fender are only doing the American Special with them installed at the moment. Would that be correct? I fancy a brand spanker.

Does anyone have any input for me? Cheers.

Not a fan of Texas Special tele pickups.
Find them a bit harsh and too hot.

Try Lollar Special T's for meatier Tele pickups.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have a listen around the web for them.

I love them. With the amp cranked and lots of gain they sound great.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

A Nocaster bridge and a Twisted Tele neck is supposed to be a good match. I have CS Nocasters in my Tele, the bridge is great but the neck is a bit too quiet in comparison.

Have you considered Tex-Mex? They were stock in the California Series way back when. I have them in my Cali Strat, and they sound great. I don't know how to describe them. I'm not well versed in pickups vocabulary, but you might be able to find sound bites somewhere online.
Fender 1997 California Series Strat, Fender CP 50s Strat, Fender 50th Anniversary MIJ '52 Tele, Fender Std Tele (being refinished)
All through a VOX VT20+, stomp boxes = redundant.

The Texas Specials sound great for biting driven blues stuff, but at the expense of a compromised clean tone.

There are two different types of fender Texas specials, the ones they put in the American specials and the custom shop ones. They sound different from memory the custom shop ones not as high output.
I love both of them. I've got an American special tele and the output is like a humbucker. You could do metal with them, country maybe not.
The problem with pickups is they sound awesome to one person and garbage to someone else. Try a few guitars with them in.

Thanks for all the input lads. I forgot about the Tex Mex so I'll be shortlisting those. The nocaster/twisted config sounds sublime, I think it's being offered on several Teles from what I remember.

Maybe TS's aren't for me considering I need to do some Johnny Marr from time to time!
