    i can believe that, & he's right.

You must have gone on a different night.

i went opening night (or the second one i cant remember tbh), and they should have handed out refunds! I payed 100 quid to watch maceo fucking parker doing 20 minute solos all night over some half-arsed 'funky jamming' bullshit. he only played like 3 hits despite the gig being touted as "the last time i'll play my hits". A diabolical con it was.

If you think it was good, you obviously didnt see the earlier gigs like lovesexy & nude (which was not as good as lovesexy) which were quite simply mind blowing.

absolutely zero comparison between the revolution band and that bloody aweful npg toss.

just as a qualifier, i'm rarely dissapointed at a gig. kings of leon was pants cos they were about as animated as a bunch of corpses....and one time i saw cypress hill get boo'd off stage at brixton cos the vocalist kept stopping the set to whine on and on about how they had had all their weed confiscated by the dutch, lol... and a gary moore gig which was wrecked by the security, who ran up and down in front of the stage shining torches into the crowd to try and stop people taking photos on their cellphones... in the end it was like trying to watch a movie on tv with a bloody great flashing "coming up next" animation onscreen the whole time.

only 3 bad ones i can recall.

I saw him close to the end of the run. And it was brilliant. Superb clear sound, every hit I could ask for and he was bang on all night.

So - clearly we went on different nights. So no - I didn't see love sexy and you didn't see the night I did.

Prices are getting high. I got a ticket for The Wall this year at £180) and ZZ Top at £80. Stereophonics at my local guild hall is £45.

Recent bargains I've seen live though were Southern Brotherhood at £15, Buddy Wittington at £12, Steel Panther £20, Thin Lizzy £22

It just reflects nowdays that the moneys in touring not record sales. If I download a Buddy Wittington album from iTunes I expect he gets about 80 pence. If I drive to see him at the Rope & Tackle arts centre to see him for £12 he probably gets at least a fiver of that.

Ooh found somebody else who saw RSB. I got a bit bored in the bass and drum solos but those apart quite stunning I thought. Yes, about £15 for the best band I had seen in ages.

well clearly; and i heard OTHER shows he DID play his 'hits', but not on the night i went, it was a rip off. I only went to take a mate who hadn't ever seen him (thinking they and I would have a good experience), so it was doubley wasted money.

he played like 3 hits (if that) as i say, and just jammed all night. Then the gig ended, the audience started to leave. I sat there shell-shocked waiting for the initial leaving-the-venue rush to die down a bit... when the auditorium was almost empty, suddenly Prince came back onstage alone; so we walked down to the front (we were like 20 rows back), and he played 3 more 'hits' on his tele with no band... then left. only about 2000 people saw that, but it still was hardly compensation.
