From.what I can tell, most of the bible's views on marriage are more about the relationship between a man and his property (wife) and the compensation due to a father if she loses her virginity before marriage so he can't sell her.
It would be hilarious if the CoE made a fuss about changing the definition of it.

I will be interested to see what the statistics for divorce start to look like now...

Now that "The Gays" can marry there's three types of marriage, Heterosexual, Homosexual Women, Homosexual Men (I suppose you could argue that there are marriages of convenience too...). Previously X% of marriages end in divorce...

Now I've known a lot of gay couples break up - probably more than I've seen not break up... if the number of The Gays getting married then divorced is enough it could increase the % of marriages that end in divorce - this would play into the hands of bigots and they'd be all like "see, I told you The Gays were anti-marriage devils, I bet they're secretly Muslims and Jews too!" or something...

If however they lower the % of marriages ending in divorce lots of very smug people will go door to door looking for bigot so they can smuggly smug right in their faces with smugness...

Either way the rhetoric train has not stopped a rollin' on this issue...

according to an indisputable survey i saw on facebook (from match.com or something) there is no signficant difference in the number of partners or longevity of relationships whether gay or straight - i think there are pariahs and whores of all persuations

What I really felt was funny was parliament wimping out on debating what consisted sexual consumation. It would have been wonderful to watch so many MPs really squirm in their seats. I feel a full audio visual presentation or a live demonstration should have been compulsory, so they at least had second hand knowledge of the whole process. With a camera dedicated to Nadine Dorries.
