I don't know what I am most impressed by - the fact that you built me a guitar for my 40th birthday or the fact you completed it months in advance cos you're so excited to get it ready for me.

    Hehe, you wish!

This one's an engagement from the elusive, and lovely, Missfiddle herself. It's definitely not going anywhere..

Piffle! This is a "62" spec, as opposed to the "51" style that Fender have been doing. I have 2 maple-board teles already, don't need a third

I'll see what I can do. I've at least worked out how to record via ipad now!

Liking the fact that it's not a maple board...that's what puts me off the actual Fender ones.

That and the fact that I can't spare the money at the moment, of course.

About time for some more detail I think. But first, a picture...

    Full spec is:
    -Thinline swamp ash body, double-bound
-Nice big maple USACG neck with rosewood fretboard. Radius is 12" and scale length is a PRS-like 25"
    -6105 frets
-TV Jones Classic+ & Classic with BKP-spec CTS pots
    -Callaham hardtail bridge
-Schaller locking M6 with pearl buttons

The finish is a lightly-reliced oil, and the neck feels AMAZING. And most importantly, it sounds phenomenal. I've never had a Gretsch or any other Filtertron-equipped guitar, but to me it sounds just as you'd hope. Not quite as brash as the solid body, maple-board Cabronitas from Fender, but a bit richer along with that slight mellowing. I properly love it. First gig on Saturday

The only hiccup is a bit of neck dive because the body is so light, so the Souldier strap I had in mind is too slippy for it. But it's a really nice position to be in where that's the only problem!

    Neck is nice and chunky:

    Nice. Very nice.

    But you already knew that.

Did Wez build it from scratch?

Showing some ignorance here, but what is it that makes it a "Cabronita"? Is it the 'Trons 'and switching simplicity, or is there something less obvious
