    Default Raspberry Pi for Guitarists?

After all the hype about Raspberry Pi last year, has anyone seen any interesting music/guitar based projects using this little computer? There must be life beyond the iPad.

I look on the web from time to time to see what the 'boffins' are up to, but most projects seem to involve using it as a music server or games console, surely someone must be interested in making something more adventurous than that?

Like how about a programmable effects do-dah?

The latency would probably be quite high.

You would probably better off using one of the Line6 programable stompboxes.

Could be good as a mini synth or drum machine

Agreed it might not be ideal as a practical solution but the 'Pi' is all about exploration, bit like I used make my own analogue effects pedals for the hell of it.

I think this would be better as a digital brain. I.E, use it to add tap tempo/sub division etc to an analog pedal. I mess around with preset true bypass loopers, and use an arduino as a brain. not as powerful as the pi but powerful enough for basic calculations.

I have a pi as well, buts that probably going to be turned into a server...

    There's this guy:

    http://guitarextended.wordpress.com/...d-and-arduino/

...who has not only apparently managed to get low latency audio through a Pi (via an EMU USB 0404 audio interface), but he's running PureData on the Pi to do the actual FX, as well as controlling it with a homebrew foot controller.

    Another chap:

    http://m0xpd.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/...er-on-rpi.html

is building a MIDI controller around a Pi and his bog is defo worth a look as he's built a MIDI controlled Tubescreamer with digital potentiometers, as well as of other relevant techie whatnots.

It's early days yet, but it's getting there.
