Default Sperzel vs Schaller Locking tuners

I'm formulating plans for my next geetar and want to put locking tuners on it. I'm familiar with Schallers as my old Vigier had them on but plenty of makers (Suhr for example) use Sperzel tuners.

I'm interested anyones thoughts and the pros/cons on the two.

Sperzels look rubbish on otherwise old-looking guitars.

They looked fantastic on a '64 Strat I put some on. A real two fingers to all the Vintage Police. They worked great too. Best tuning stability on any vintage Strat ever.

I'm really not joking, although there is a good reason I fitted them - the headstock had already been vandalised beyond repair and the Sperzels covered the holes quite well.

I've had that thing on a Sperzel where you undo it too far and the little rod drops out and doesn't want to go back in. Not sure if Schallers have a similar nigglesome property or not?
    Red ones are better.

Schallers have a better gear ratio.

But saying that I still use both and I think they are ver good whichever you choose. As mentioned already the Sperzels are lighter.

Schallers are heavier than the Sun therefore a bad thing, fit Sperzels and forget all about it , they work flawlessley , never had a duff one .

The Schaller locking tuners are specially designed by Vigier to be oversized, thus providing extra mass to the headstock = more sustain.
