    Default Speccy gits question.

So... I picked up a couple of pairs of prescription reading glasses today.
I'd been putting it off for a bit so now enjoying being able to reading small print without straining my eyes and it helps with the guitar building stuff.

I've only had them for a couple of hours (wearing them to use my laptop) but I find I have a) a headache and b) my eyes are watering.
Is this just an adjustment period or should I go back to the optician?

    First time ever wearing glasses?

If so, perfectly normal. If possible stay away from computer screens. Reading the paper or a book will ease you in a lot easier

Yes, first time, other than sunglasses.
Unfortunately I have to work right now so have to look at a screen.

    Thanks for the advice.

Provided you can see clearly though them at first, then this is perfectly normal, and should disappear with use. I've been wearing glasses since the age of two, and I'm well used to having to go through a period of adjustment, when I get a new prescription.

Yep. As has been said, quite normal.

I first started wearing them in my 30's. First time out of the opticians was a combination of "Wow, I can see" and "Ow, I can see".

Always a settling in period even with just a change in prescription. Although one time ( about 4 years ago I think)I really struggled and couldn't adjust - headaches, nothing really sharp enough - and went back to the optician after a week. Turned out they had made them up wrong. I also seem to struggle with the fit and nearly always go back to have them readjusted after a couple of weeks as well.
I am one of those people who have to put their glasses on to listen to people properly.

I really want glasses*... but no matter how many screens I stare at all day I can't seem to need them... and I'd never want to do that hipster thing of fake glasses..

    * I think my face suits glasses due to experiments with sunglasses
