I have an MT2 and love the fact I can get Tool-tones out of it. It aint as clear on fast notes but aint as bad as the DS-1 in clarity stakes, lol!

Metal Muffs are cool. Though check out MXR's distortion+ and consider a Boss GE7 with it. Rats will also do what you want.

Good pedals, I used one as an overdrive for many years after the death of my Guv'nor.

However, you could build one for a fraction of what Dunlop expect you to pay for the MXR.

Its a dod 250 OD schematic isnt it. They changed a couple of things around according to a couple of sites I went to. Obviously someone thinks its funny to charge extra for the italic script ledging.

Yep, they are virtually identical - like the TubeScreamer and the SD-1.

Wait, hold on, there's an SD-1 in a second hand shop near me for about €30. Is it worth getting for Tube-screamer like tones? Would it be worth it? I'd like a Tubescreamer type pedal. And would it push my AD30VT I'm planning on getting into "metal" territory? Does anyone know?

    Yes, well worth a try.

The only main difference between the TS and the SD is the form of diode clipping employed in each. One is symmetrical one is asymmetrical. They are extemely similar pedals.

I love the Metal Muff too - but maybe not the best choice if you are after great separation between the notes. The Zoom Tri-Metal is also ACE if you want that saturated Mesa thing, but I found it too fizzy. My fave is the Line6 Uber Metal. Not the connoisseurs choice, but I just think it sounds great.

You do need to keep the treble really low (same with the Hyper Lead). It can make some good chuggy sounds though.
    You're with stupid. ▲
