    Default FS / FT - 1975 Gibson ES-345

For sale is my 1975 ES345. Only selling this plus other guitars as I’ve found my perfect guitar and the GAS must be expelled. Considering the state of the market, I am asking only £2,100 for a straight sale. I will consider other high end Gibson or Fender Guitars in part trade (trade value £2,300).

Other than a professional re-fret, this guitar is in extremely good original condition. It is a great looking and playing guitar with a fast neck, very low action, and great tone from the original Patent Number Pickups. The Guitar is currently set up in mono without the varitone and sounds fantastic in this form (and is 10oz lighter without the choke!). It’s a new loom with Bare Knuckle Custom taper pots and Russian PIO caps. The original “stereo” Varitone loom will be supplied with the guitar, or if preferred, can be refitted to make the guitar entirely original.

Comes with the original purple plush lined Gibson case which is also in great condition.

Serial number is 372775 which dates it to ’74 / ’75 according to http://home.provide.net/~cfh/gibson.html#serial The pots date to the last week of 1974 so it’s a fair guess that this is a 1975.

This guitar has been looked after through it’s 38 years. There is very little in the way of dings or dents, next to no lacquer checking and little fading of the original colour. It is a Walnut finish but is more like a chestnut colour, very warm and rich. It’s difficult to get the colour accurate in photos, particularly in winter light.

The original frets finally gave out about two years ago and it was expertly re-fretted with vintage correct wire and retaining the nibs by John Gill of JXG Guitars in Newcastle and frequenter of this forum. The varitone rotary switch was faulty and changed, I still have the original. Only other changed part is that Grover’s have been put on it a long time ago. They are gold and look correct for mid late ‘70s so may have been done early in the guitars life.

Thanks for looking, any questions please ask.

Thanks for the kind words. This is a great guitar, and it pains me to move it on, but I've found the early ES I've always wanted and unfortunately I need to raise funds through selling / part trade trading 2 or 3 of the collection to make it happen. Check out the '67 Trini Lopez as well
