Default Gotoh GTC 102 or Hipshot bridge on Warmoth Body, and USA hardtail in gold - UK?

Would either of these bridges work on a Warmoth body routed for the narrow strat bridge pattern or the American standard flatmount? I really like the look of both, but Warmoth require the actual bridge to be posted to them for a custom route...

From the diagrams, it looks like the Gotoh bridge string thru holes line up perfectly (52.5mm) but the mounting holes would need to be filled and redrilled. Which can only go wrong with a hand held drill :P

The Hipshot... Well, the UK allparts store doesn't state which of its hardtails are in stock, and as such, I don't know if any of them fit in any route!

The hardtail bridges supplied by Warmoth don't look that nice, and they don't do the USA standard hardtail in gold. If they did, I'd have that - are these available anywhere in the UK? After much googling, I've only found one place selling chrome ones, otherwise it's an important from USA job. Gah! It's such a pain trying to source parts in the UK. Plenty of cheap knockoffs, but original parts are impossible to come by! Not even Stewmac has the genuine Fender USA hardtail!

You seem to have a handle on it.
I wouldn't use a hand-drill for it though- a Drill press is the only way to be sure really.

All-parts have the Strat hardtail for £42 though.

    Dang. I don't have a drill press!

Ooo okay. The only problem is that it's not gold. All my hardware is giong to be gold, but I'm having a really hard time getting a good bridge, hence the hipshot/gotoh alternatives. If there are any USA standard hardtails in gold, problem solved!

    Call Allparts on Monday.
They may have stock, or they might be able to order it in quite quickly.

I suspect that may be the only way. I bet it costs an arm and a leg. I'll see if I can find an American dealer to import it in, though it's been slow going so far.

You ARE looking for something that isn't that common.
Narrow spaced strat hardtails are not common to begin with.
In gold... they *might* sell 2-3 of those a year.

Do you absolutely have to spec the guitar with gold hardware?

If so then I'd probably go for the Hipshot but just spend the extra £30-40 to get someone in the UK to drill it for you- just order the guitar undrilled from Warmoth.

Will Warmoth not drill to a spec? You could ask them if you send them the drawings/dimensions of what you have if they will drill it... ?
    Red ones are better.

    They never used to.
    Not sure about now.

I asked them to do one for me back before I could do it myself and they said 'no, too much hassle and it creates issues for returns'.

They don't, they need the physical bridge itself. Already asked :P which isn't so bad, if I didn't have to send it right across the ocean... :-(

Yeah, gold hardware is tacky and tasteless... I love it. :P Well, I've found a dealer on eBay that sells them, and has all fees included in the postage price by looks of it - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FENDER-USA...item4d03bbbc06 so I'll be ordering that. Thanks for the help guys. I think I'll need to dedicate this guitar to the Musicradar forumites...

    Happy to help.

BTW- for future reference you CAN use a hand drill if you are really, really good with it.
I much prefer a press but if you can keep it absolutely, completely at 90 degrees to the body and work slowly then you will be ok.
There is much more of a chance of fucking up though.

A local repairer shouldn't charge you much to do it.
If properly equipped it is under an hour- especially if the guitar doesn't need to be taken apart and put back together.
