    Default Cornford amps in trouble?

Anderton's have some amazing deals on Cornford amps due to 'bulk buying' deal. Hope the amp makers not in trouble. A Harlequin is reduced from £799 to £499 ...

Some speculation (and a few crumbs of info) in this thread on the Cornford forum:

TL_DR - Subcontractor looks like it has stopped production, "perhaps" a new line of amps (under a different name) might happen at some point in the future. Or not.

I didn't realise. Looks like Cornford's finished for now.

I think I'll keep my Harlequin. A new one for £499 is a bargain.

Sad news if that's the case.

I'm not up on their range - what's the 20w amp?

I remember a Tele into one of those at full volume at Mr Arrowhead's house; it was hugely impressive. Oh, and loud.

^ hurricane, i think. yeah i really liked that one. i wasn't so fussed on the hellcat or carrera, though. seem to be good prices compared to what they used to go for... then again, they're a lot of money when you don't know what's going on with the brand etc. etc. etc.

But due to the non-PCB construction of the classic amps, rather than the PCB-based Roadhouse range, I'd have thought they'd be reliable and easy for a pro-amp tech to maintain. If they stop being made they could become quite collectable.

yeah probably. that being said everything is normally easier when the manufacturer still exists.

Cornford haven't existed as a company for years, straight edge have been building them to order for Andertons and coda music and covering any warrany issues.I suspect this is the last run of this line unless someone resurrects the brand.Shame really

Cornford is finished and the Anderton amps are the last. Apparently Martin Kidd is currently designing and building new amps which are being backed by Chappers and Lee Anderton the owner of Andertons [there's a video on You Tube of Chappers with a prototype]. It also appears that these amps don't sound the same or as good as the amps originally built by Cornford.

ah right i didn't realise that, thanks for the info. I did know that things had seemed "strange", for want of a better word, for some time now.
