Default Speaker popping / novation nio 2/4 sound card not working

    Hi
    I have a USB Nio 2/4 soundcard.
Every time I turn the computer on / off the speakers pop.
In an attempt to try and fix this I disconnected the card by pulling out the usb lead from the card to the computer.
My soundcard does not work now, the red light on the card stays on permanently (indicating no signal is going through it).
My popping speakers are still there (job well done, not!)
    I have updated drivers.
    I am running windows 7 (64bit).
    I have emailed Novation-no response.
    Any tips would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Go to control panel then sound and see what the settings are for some reason my windows 7 lap always disables my internal sound card when I plug an external one in then forgets to turn the internal one on. Popping of speakers could be down to programs your using not being compatible with windows running at 64 bit but this manifest as more of a whine than a pop so need more info

    Just my 2ps

    Hi
Thanks for that, I have checked all my settings, they all seem fine. What is worrying is the fact that the red Novation light on the sound card is on and constant. It used to flicker in order to indicate a signal was going through it.

I reinstalled without all other USB hardware connected. It seemed to do the job.
