Default Looking for good online courses for rhythm guitar.

    Hi
I have fallen back in love with the electric guitar, however I am not a shredder and have no desire to move in that direction.
I want to develop my rhythm work as my prime reason for playing the guitar is composition / singer songwriter accompaniment / rhythm work in a band.
Can anybody point my in the direction of an effective online course of lessons.
    Thanks in advance.

cant help you with online lessons. I think a good way to develop your playing is to jam with others, playing different styles and putting yourself in situations where taken outside your 'box'.
Theres loads of free samples in the Music Radar site, maybe download them , loop the beats and play along.

While you're seeking out online lessons, I'm not sure if funk rhythm interests you but here's a couple of Youtube ones that may be helpful.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyA9nyy7M9o - Paul Jackson Jr and The Science Of Rhythm Guitar (check out the other clips too and this is a hard DVD to find)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEPw06KxdOY - Ross Bolton

Alot of people listen to Eddie Van Halen for his soloing but I happen to think he's a superb rhythm player.

Post up any good on-line lessons that you may find and all the best.

There's a very good Robben Ford dvd on rhythm guitar if you want blues/ r&b which I think is all on youtube now.
Also learn some Chic and James Brown

Sorry but obvious answer - buy a drum machine or metronome and practice everything to a beat. Learn to clap in time to develop the basic sense of rhythm. Jamming is good but online will not work if you fall down in a live situation

    Hi
Thanks for the answers, really helpful.

Just to expand on my post I am looking for new techniques in relation to advancing my rhythm playing as I feel that I lack creativity when it comes to the guitar and tend to just play the same old chord riffs, inversions and licks.

    Thanks
