    Default wood score

Been a while since i have picked up any truly great free wood - but it still pays to have people out there keeping an eye open for me. Like when my uncle comes across someone who has a perfectly flatsawn 8' x 10"x 2" solid honduran mahogany shelf!!!

couple of bit of mystery wood in there too, will plane those up to see but I think its either sapelle or iroko. nice tap tone but if its iroko it will just get used for tools and jigs

That's very nice stuff indeed! I'm just having some fingerboards cut from Jarrah: I was given a load some time ago and tried some experiment to try it's suitability as a rosewood substitute. It's really not bad at all! Mind you, as tough on your tools as ebony!

Hope you are gonna make a Charvel Star or original Robbin Crosby sized Jackson Big Red King V with that width and not just waste it on a LP Junior type shape.

i am going to trim a couple of inches off the edge for neck blanks. then cross cut each piece in half for a couple of decent sized body blanks

Is that a John Birch guitar? The one that was on eBay not long ago?

its one i have been slowly restoring after getting it off ebay in a sorry state 2 years ago. the body had 3 major splits and was just held together by the back and jack plate and a few small splinters.

it was also missing its original pickups - and i have just managed to get some in a trade

Ooof, I approve! I wish I had... Well, a workshop! You'll easily squeeze a couple of necks from it too.

Of just a couple of MASSIVE bodies. Depends how much you value your back, I suppose...

    That's a result!

Timber like that would cost a pretty penny I'm sure.
    Cheers,
