I only thought progenitors was average. Not a patch on alistair reynolds or ian m banks.

I preferred anathem but by the time i read snowcrash it could be it had been so thoroughly assimilated by popular culture that looking back on it, it seems kinda cheesy.

looking at amazon it appears to be - sniff - self published - which is not a good sign though i suppose it is our duty as causeless rebels to support the blessy try-hards

i might try a bit of banks - i rarely venture into sci-fi and had my space opera gland fried with shtness by attempting some e doc smith - i only hear good things about banks though so think hes worth a go

I am on Book 3 of The Baroque Cycle by Neal Stephenson. I put off reading this trilogy for a long time because it is set in the 17th century, but of course it is excellently excellent!

Suppose I should finally read this Bad Science book for myself then
Essentially there is very little evidence one way or the other that Antioxidants or Free Radicals are good or bad for you in small doses and in large doses Antioxidents give you cancer IIRC.

Read Bad Science it's a very good book.

"Those who can read but won't read are as illiterate as those who cannot read."

I cannot remember who made that quote.

"One picture is worth a thousand words", and I can therefore recommend this book:

I thought The Diamond Age vastly better than Snow Crash. Cryptonomicon was excellent. The Baroque Cycle was a bit too heavy going for me.

Well it's all subjective innit... It did it for me though...

Cryptonomicon.... A useless pile of over hyped self indulgent author-wank... Gave up half way through (at about the length of a normal long book) as I got very very bored waiting for something interesting to happen.
