    Default Comp after OD?

Does anyone run a compressor after an overdrive? I ask as I'm putting a lot of thought into getting my mini-board as versatile as possible. I'm thinking of running a sunface into a prince of tone and THEN into my love squeeze... i like to get a few key tones; creamy fuzz face tones, TS tones, transparent 'bit of hair on my guitar' tone (the POT does TS and bit of hair tones very nicely) but I'm keen to try to achieve some smoother more compressed zendrive tones for a few mellow solo type tones. I haven't given it much time to mess around with yet, but will a comp after an OD mellow out the OD tone at all?

I know it sounds totally lazy but in order to properly decide either way I'd have to unplug and try both ways at least ten times before i decide! (Im v indecisive). Does anyone run comp post OD?

I can't see it making a difference to a clean tone either way?

Anyone think of any striking pros v cons?

I've just put my compressor back on my board, and put it after my drive section. I've only jammed at home but I definitely noticed a smoothening out of my drives and that's what I was hoping for. I'm jamming with the band tomorrow night so I can give a proper report then. The only issue I think I'm going to run into is the compressor amplifying any noise generated in the drive section, so obvsiously I'm now looking for a noise supressor (will it ever end!?!)

The only thing to consider is that the compressor being on will take some of the boost out of your drives.

You can also overload some comps and make them drive if the input is mega hot.

Robert Keeley recommends having the compressor after a drive you use for a rhythm sound. Given that I have multiple drives after my board, I have the compressor after one drive but before the others to give me an option of before or after.

I do this, keeps the clean and rhythm drive kinda equal and then I have another drive after the comp for my lead sound. Works for me

I tried it after reading that Keeley recommended. I changed back after about 5 minutes and have never tried it again.
