Default Jesus, that sounds half decent!

This might be built by handicapped, five-year old Chinese kids, but that actually sounds really nice to my ears given the ridiculous price...

Anyone else tried some of them Belcat tube amps?

It does sound promising, and an extra £20 for a 5-year warranty probably removes most peoples' biggest concern tbh.
I've owned and used Blues Juniors (which this design seems to be based on), and £220 is about what they should cost in my opinion, Fender have bumped them up to a ridiculous level for what they are.

Not sure if this was stolen directly from my brain, but you pretty much nailed it. I really fancy a nice, higher powered, Fendery Bassman-y kind of amp, and though this isn't that, if they decide to make one...

It does look (and sound) suspiciously like a BJ, doesn't it...

Not sure I'd agree on the pricing point though - as in I don't think Fender could offer the BJ for as low as £220. Purely for the fact that the BJ is made in Mexico, IIRC, while Belcat can get away with such a low price based on the cheaper Chinese workforce. Not saying that the BJ isn't overpriced though, since clearly you can do as well or almost as well for half the price. I'm mainly saying that it would take a much different corporate structure, country of manufacture, etc. for Fender to match this.

When you think about it, £220 for a 20W all-tube combo (not just a head) is just plain mental.

The last BJ I bought (quiet at the back!) new was only £345 and I bought a new Pro Jr for £199 on the same day. Admittedly it was a few years ago, but they were both USA made at the time.
Now they want almost that much just for one of them, made in Mexico, which I still think is way too steep, given that the development costs were recouped in about '94.
If I'd actually liked the Blues Jr I'd certainly grab one of those Belcats instead, there's nothing in there that looks complex to fix. In fact on the Tele forum there are some good comparison gut shots of the two amps and it's definitely a BJ "homage" to put it nicely

Fair point. I also bought a BJ years ago, in Paris (oh, grow up!) - unfortunately can't remember the price, but might have been in the same ball park as yours.

Still, if these guys want to make a more British-style amp (5W EL84 or even an 18W type of thing) I might be game!
