Default One for ICBM & associated amp guys!!!

    Gentlemen,

Here's what I'm trying to do.

I have a Matchless Little Monster combo, it has a speaker extension out, with an ohms selector switch, 4, 8 & 16 ohm. The internal speaker is 8 ohm. I have a separate cab with a 10" Blue rated at 16 ohms, which I'd like to connect and run as an extension cab, in conjunction with the internal speaker; really just to see how it sounds.

    a) can I actually do this?
    b) I've had my shoes and socks off to do the sums, and come up with 5.3 ohms, presumably I'd need to set the overall ohms at 4?
    c) am I an idiot......

Thank you for indulging a request I'm sure has been asked 8 million times. People like me really shouldn't be allowed near electricity.....

    Best.

    Paul.

I would try both the 4 and 8 ohm taps to see which sounds better.

4 ohms will be the nearer match, but 8 ohms would be OK too, bearing in mind that the loading is a bit of a finger in the air job anyway.

8 ohm is a strange choice for the internal speaker when you have a 16 ohm tap on the transformer, because it means you wouldn't be using all the secondary windings on the transformer.
