Default A couple of questions for the amp knowlegeable.

Here's what was knocking around in my head today.

Now, I know you can bypass the pre-amp by using the fx loop return. Can you also bypass the power section the same way? Say running a cord from the fx send of one amp to the fx return of a second amp? Sort of a " ghetto engineered" Franken-amp.

    Question two:

Is it possible to ADD an fx loop to a Fender Super Champ x2? I have a fair lot of pedals, and can't be arsed to bother with Fuse.

The reason I was wondering is that the Fender Mustang III is known to have a noisy, dodgy power amp. ( that's where the infamous "fizz" comes from) Mine doesn't make any noises that I can't live with, but I was wanting to combine the excellent modelling and user interface with an honest to goodness tube power amp. I've been hankering for a used Peavey Valveking or Vintage 30. Both have effects loops.

I don't want to mess with this if it could cause harm to the amp.

Question one - yes you can, although it does depend on the amps in question (some have the FX loop in a funny place).

Question two - sorry, don't know the answer to that one

1 - yes, although you will often need to then mute the amp's power amp by putting a second unconnected lead - or better, a shorted plug, which is easy to make - into the FX Return jack, since most amps switch the signal in the Return but not the Send.

2 - yes, it's possible. There is a simple place to break the signal path just before the phase inverter. The problem would be to find enough physical space to mount the jacks without hitting any of the internal circuitry, but I think it could be done. There's certainly enough room to fit one jack, so you could use a TRS (stereo) jack and a Y-cable if you had to. It would also be at probably quite a high signal level though, so it may not work well with all pedal effects.
