Default Travis' Big Build - the Speedycaster

Well after a good few years of badgering I have convinced a mate of mine to build me an ash tele body from scratch. He's a cabinet maker and it is actually something he's wanted to do for a while so this weekend we went the sawmills which was like a scene from the Dukes of Hazzard and bought some ash with a really nice grain. It's going to be a 2 piece body which he has already glued and planed ready for shaping. It's a nice light resonant piece.

So the base concept for this is the Seymour Duncan TeleGib, so a twin buckered tele with a cut down standard tele bridge, we considered a TOM but for a first build I said we'd make it as easy as possible.

Initially he was keen to do the neck too, but after researching though better of - which I'm glad as for me, it's often the neck that can make or break a guitar. At least buying one I can get what I want - which in this case will be a 10" radius with 44.45mm nut width so my sausage fingers can cope better.

We think we might relic it - he likes that idea but we'll see when we get to that stage !!

Oh and if anyone has a tele body template nows the time to say!!

So I'll post photos as and when to this thread and as they say.....

    Here you go.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

That's what they use in the USA.

Just print it out, stick it to MDF or ply and cut out your template.
