I've decided to get rid of my faithful Traps electric drum kit.

For practice it's unbeatable - the mesh heads feel great, the drums are all proper sizes and you've got complete hihat control. The sound is jawdropping through Superior Drummer and a good set of studio monitors.

Better still, swap the skins and you've got a Traps A400 flat acoustic kit (http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/catal.../view/id/22760). These sell for about £300 and sound pretty ballsy for the size!

However, I use it purely for recording and so it's just too flaky to rely on - a few of the triggers have stopped working, and I've had to fix it with piezo transducers stuck on with double sided sticky tape. I can't be arsed with DIY - I'm a guitarist, not a drummer!

If you can spare a few quid to do it up, you'll have a kit that destroys anything under £800!

What you get for your dosh:

  • Alesis TriggerIO USB/MIDI interface (worth £95)
  • Hihat stand fitted with Alesis RealHat pedal (bought separately for £40)
  • Durable steel rack with tons of mounting hardware and 3 fully adjustable cymbal stands
  • Kick drum pedal (actually surprisingly decent)
  • 20" mesh head bass drum with trigger (trigger registering each hit several times)
  • 14" mesh floor tom with centre and rim triggers
  • 12" mesh floor tom (no triggers)
  • 12" mesh snare drum with centre and rim triggers (working intermittently)
  • 10" mesh tom with centre and rim triggers
  • 8" mesh tom with centre and rim triggers
  • Three 12" crash/ride cymbals with single triggers (two not working)
  • One 12" hihat cymbal with single trigger
  • A disk with BFD Lite

IMPORTANT!! The Trigger IO is an interface designed to connect to a PC with virtual drum software like Superior or EZDrummer. It DOES NOT make any sound on its own!
On the plus side, even the free software sounds better than any electric kit you've ever heard. Drummix Beta is amazing!

I've spoken to the owner of Traps and if you send in the drums, they can upgrade them to the latest trigger mechanisms for a reasonable price.

However, you can easily make your own triggers with piezo transducers, you can get 5 for 99p on ebay. Wire one up to a 1/4 jack cable, stick it to the drum somehow (moon gel works great, or you can build a proper little case), and you're in business! http://www.drummagazine.com/plugged-...drum-triggers/

Frankly, the cymbals are pretty rubbish and I'd recommend replacing the hihat and ride for something like this (http://www.thomann.de/gb/millenium_m...becken_pad.htm) as soon as possible, it just isn't sensitive enough. They're fine as crashes though. The kick drum trigger is acting up a bit too, it seems to register each hit several times.

This originally sold for around £700, without the extras I bought....so I'm looking for offers around £300.

Collection from Liverpool area, shipping would be pretty much unworkable.
