Default solid state amp & speaker impedance

Is this info correct for solid state amps?

    http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Will_16_oh..._ohm_amplifier

Im using a 70 watt PA solid state amplifier that has an 8 Ohm output and want to connect to a 16 Ohm speaker cabinet.

From what I understand this is safe to do and will just lower the output of the amp.

Im hoping this is true because it is actually impossible to find a solid state amp with a 16 Ohm output and an 8 Ohm output like most valve amps have. At least Im having serious difficutly finding one.

Yes this is perfectly safe from a power dissipation point of view.

SS amps aren't usually run into 16 ohms because the power output would look very unimpressive.

You can be very unlucky and get some form of parasitic oscillation, but then you can into a "rated" load as well, so I wouldn't worry about this.
