Confusion With Major Pentatonic?

To go back to the original poster, it's a good idea to learn specific solos that use major pentatonic and identify what 'shapes' you're playing in. Jimi Hendrix's 'Wind cries Mary' is a (nearly!) pure example of soloing with major pentatonic... and it's lovely.

Hi Stuart. It is great that solo,so true. I did learn that one but had no idea at the time it was Maj Pent. I would have to have a couple of goes at it to refresh myself, but it's worth studying it to see what theory I missed the first time around.

I've learned so many bloody solos it's unreal, some are on paper but I tend to not be so bad at recollecting a given solo now. So now I tend to just note down the song/solo I've learned in a list so I don't completely forget that I learned them in the first place.
