ha! Very true - the Overdrive setting is great and gets proper thick anyway. The Distortion setting is shite!

Absolutely I used to be able to get a GLORIOUS AC/DC crunch from the 'overdrive' mode pushing a clean valve amp, which rolled up to a really nice Thin Lizzy - Maiden-y lead sound with a bit more drive or into a more overdriven amp; switch to distortion mode and everything goes tits

The more drive pedals I try the more I realise it's just application and the amp you are going into that counts.

The Prince of Tone and Liquid Sunshine are my current favs, but with a different amp it could change.

There is also a place in my heart for the RAT and the Riot.

All my OD/Dist pedals are the best in the world at some point. But few would argue that eh?

Wampler Pinnacle LTD Deluxe....EVH in a tin. Triffic.
Marshall Guv'nor....both mk I and II's both excellent even tho they different.
    Bad Monkey...say no more!
    Dano TOD mkI.

I still need to get a RAT though and see what all the fuss is about.

I did that. At first it felt a bit meh but then I realised the filter control is very sensitive. You have to dial it in quite accurately to get the tone you are after. Which makes it east to get a tone you don't like but also makes it very versatile. I can see why people really rate it but it didn't stay on my board for long.

    T-Rex Mudhoney
    Tubescreamer

This is like picking a favourite icecream! The T-Rex Mudhoney is my favourite flavour, but I would say a Tubescreamer is essential (it's the chocolate flake that makes your distortion a 99).
