Bullshit adverts

The internet is one big advertising machine. Every time we write a comment/add something to it we are doing unpaid work for the big companies that can afford to advertise. In fact the more interesting the the things we add the more people we are potentially subjecting to it.

I'm loving this, but I can't find that girl on the Fender website. Does anyone know when Andertons will have her on sale, and does she come in Blonde?

Me too. Usually exactly at the point where it ruins the flow of the final scene.

Also when they squeeze the credits into half the screen width to show a trailer for the next programme, and stop you reading the credits... which I do, sometimes.

All of the above! I know it's been happening for years now, but it still pisses me off that they cut from programme to adverts with unseemly haste, and mid-scene... There used to be a bit of a pause before the adverts came on, and they used to come at the end of a scene... Bastards, the lot of 'em!

And the people who made that advert were idiots who don't know how to pronounce Juan (it's "jew-ann", not "wan").

I'll have to pull you up on that I'm afraid. The "-ew-ann" is correct but a Spanish J is pronounced like that throaty sound the Scots make when pronouncing Auch as in Auchermughty or Auchterarder. Kind of like the sound you make when hacking up a greener really.

A friend and I had been directed to the impressively awful Electra Girl tv show... there are episodes on YouTube so we had a look. At the end of the episode we watched together they had a voice over at the end advertising some hat based documentary or other... but rather than talk over the credits they talked over the last lines of dialogue in the show - even reducing the program volume so the voice over wouldn't blend in... making it virtually impossible to make out what was said in the last moments of the show! At least the annoying thing we have now is a slight improvement over that annoying thing
