Thanks for your suggestions, many of which are for places I've visited so I know they're good.

I'm thinking of Newquay, you can even fly down there these days.

Ooooh i know i know!! Get on the night train to cornwall. Bodmin parkway. It's about 65 quid or something and you get your own little bedroom on the train, you sleep like a log, then wake up in cornwall to a lovely bacon roll, coffee and orange juice. It sets off at 9pm ish and gets in at 6 in the morning. Then ring for a taxi to the b and b that you have obviously ordered in advance. Dump your stuff. Then bus to padstow and start walkin'. Pub luncheon, then sit and look at the world. Then another walk on the cliffs, then supper and a few drinks in the various pubs chatting up the locals. Not sure how you get back to bodmin. Maybe you won't need to muahhahaha. Anyway next morning do the same sort of thing. Then the next day you get back to the train station, train leaves at 6 am and rolls into paddington i think at about 10 am. The whole thing's cost you less than 200.
