Default Faulty Marshall footswitch for my DSL...what replacements?

I'm sure its an easy fix..but would be good to get a spare also. Doesn't have to be Marshall any decent and hopefully reliable footswitch would be handy. Just discovered the one I don't use on my AC30 works fine...so if I can't get the Marshall fixed (surely cant be much to fix?) then i've at least got one to use now. Funny thing is this footwsitch I got with the amp has hardly been used really...and last time I got it out for use it worked fine..now it doesn't. Bugger.

Would something like this work with a regular instrument cable? ICBM ??

The Bespeco pedal is junk, I would fix the Marshall one. It will almost certainly be the cable, and it's probably broken either at the moulded plug or at the cable clamp on the footswitch. Remove the cable and the clamp, fit a jack in the hole in the pedal, and use a standard instrument cable (or a stereo one if it's a 2-button footswitch).

This is exactly what I did with the footswitch for my (Marshall-built) Vox AC15. Didn't even need to enlarge the hole. You can then permanently fix the switch to your board (but carry a spare stereo cable!)

yeah i'm sure its gotta be an easy fix..99% sure to it will be a break in the cable at some point along its length. Probs around the exit from the pedal itself or the jack as is usually the case with breaks. This reminds me..just bought 3 of those nice Fender Custom Shop cables with the fabric finish on 'em hoping they might last a while. I've got a box of guitar leads that need fixiing. And never again will I buy a lead with sealed jacks. Get me a soldering iron n learn to fix 'em. Gotta be easy right?

Somewhere like Bright Onions will build you another one, you can get one in a smaller enclosure or something too.

Get down to maplin and get a cheapo iron, all you need for starting off with a few odd jobs.

I had a problem with the lead on mine chopped a bit off and it went again, I sent it to Marshall and the nice man in the service department sent me a new one. Actually it's not a huge job to re-wire it with better quality cable, it needs to be 2 core shielded (strereo) cable. I carry a spare footswitch to gigs.
You can't argue with a sick mind.

I use a orange footswitch with mine, I was tired of Marshall ones breaking on me , orange ones just use guitar leads, so a £5 lead is cheaper than a Marshall footswitch every year
