A pedal that draws a million amps could be quite entertaining, for a fraction of a second!

Going back to the original issue, I would say don't go right up to the maximum draw of the supply. Sometimes things can get noisy. I had a 450mA supply that got noisy with more than about 250mA worth of pedals on it.
If that was a Power Bank, it's because the filtering is massively under-spec. You can increase the size of the main caps drastically - there's room on the board - and the problem goes away. I beefed up several of them (as well as fixing the other crap-design problems they have) when they were about the only power supply you could easily get. I'm still using a couple...

I just bought my umpteenth 9v PSU for my roland micro cube amp - i use it everyday on my lessons and as i'm wrapping the cable around the plug after use to put away they always seem to break on the bit where they exit the PSU...now here's to my point. I've had a few that were fine and quiet bought locally for a fiver..but the soft flexy bit kept breaking inside 2months. So I got one off ebay and paid a whole 2 squids more in the hope that it'd have a stiffer flex on the exit of the PSU...it did. But guess what? It hums like a humming thing. I think there are 2 kinds...you clever boffin types can correct me if wrong...negative ground and positive ground..get the wrong wun as i've just done (even tho it was sold as a PSU for Boss pedals!) and it will cause your pedals to hum. Not good.
