    Default Pedal Power Advice

Hey guys ive been downscaling my board size/pedals and im now at a point where im looking into power options.. this is my list

    TC Polytune
    Suhr Koko Boost
    JHS Morning Glory
    Suhr Riot
    Dunlop bypass wah
T1M Modded ErnieBall Jr Volume Pedal
    JHS Honey Comb Tremelo
    Strymon Timeline
    TC Electronic Trinity Reverb

as far as im aware they are all 9v (suhrs could be run higher) except the timeline.. At a push i could maybe squeeze one last 9v pedal on (considering a compressor once suhr releases theirs).

So ideally a unit that could run 10 pedals...... If i got a pedal power 2 plus could i make this work?

im currently running it all of an artec unit which has been really good and a single plug into a 5slot power strip which is obviously something id like to cut down if possible

    Thanks

Are they all upfront from your amp, or are some in an FX loop?

I normally just go straight in the front, will it make a large difference down the line if I wanted my modulation stuff in the loop?

Just depends if you need an isolated PSU or not.

If I have my pedals all upfront then I can power this lot quite happily and quietly from a single Diago Powerstation

If I run the chorus/volume/delay/reverb in the loop then I have to power those seperately, or bite the bullet and go for something with isolated outputs, but they're all bloody massive and I'd have to loose pedal space to fit one in (or go for a pedaltrain style board)

Sometimes you need either separate supplies or proper isolated output supplies if some are in the loop and some in front.

If they are all in front (except the Timeline) you could use a single Visual SOund One Spot and use 2 daisy chains. As long as the total draw is under 1700mA it will be great.

The Pedal Power 2 has 8 outputs. You can add 2 outputs together to get 18V, leaving you another 6... but you can still daisy chain the other outputs as long as the total current draw exceeds the max the PP2 will cope with.

Ive seen that the power 2 has a slot on the back for a regular plug... could i just put my timeline in there then run the rest of my pedals through the regular isolated outputs?

Is the Timeline a mains power then?

The Voodoo labs says the 'courtesy' output is 200W max, so you can't run an amp off it, but most mains pedals would be fine

I currently run the timeline from the mains yes - other pedals of the artec.

seems to make out that the courtesy would do it! so does that mean the other 8 outputs would all work on my stuff? no overpowering?

If i wanted to add in that last pedal.. is it better to chain the power from the voodoo labs or from the polytune? Im assuming the voodoolabs but I though id ask if there was any difference.

kinda jumping on this thread in tow with my other one abotu power supplies.

Can someone explain the reason why I would need separate power supply for pedals in the FX Loop? I have used this the past few weeks, all powered from one daisy-chain, boost/M5/reflector are in the FX Loop:

Sometimes having the same power supply for pedals before the amp as well as in the loop can cause bad hum. This means a single plug and daisy chain type supply - not a Pedal Power 2 where each output is effectively a different power supply as the outputs are isolated from each other.

If you are not getting any hum then don't worry about it. But if you get a new pedal and all of a sudden it hums like a bastard it's a good chance that using the same supply for in front and loop is the cause.

If you only run 9V pedals then a pair of Visual Sound One-Spot power supplies is way cheaper than a Pedal Power 2. I've only just ordered a PP2 because I've now got some 18V pedals
