    Default Help dating a Les Paul Custom...

    ...The seller says it's from 1976. Any experts on dating Les Pauls? I've tried online but it's very confusing...

    Not really enough to see to proffer an opinion. Cream plastic parts are clearly after-market.

    From Gibson website:

    "Gibson USA, Gibson Acoustic, Gibson Memphis

    - From 1975-1977 the number is typically found on a decal on the back of the headstock. This should be an 8 digit number that can be dated by the 1st and 2nd digits as follows:

    99 = 1975
    00= 1976
    06 = 1977 "

    So it is a genuine 1976, just like the guy said... I just have to decide whether it's worth 1500 EUR, considering its condition.

    Thanks guys!

    This is a handy site;
    http://www.guitardaterproject.org/gibson.aspx

    Your serial number checks out, the pics are a bit blurry though.
    Assuming it's genuine, the bridge looks new, the tailpiece looks worn/original, and the knobs, pickups, rings and pickguard have all been changed.

    Those mid -late 70s Les Paul's can be great guitars.Tone monsters.
    How much it's worth is proportional to how much you want it.
    Play it first if you can. Price might not be an issue.
