Default PRS Soapbar SE - am GASing. Any experience?

    Hi All

Am seriously considering a PRS Soapbar SE (the single cut one). Fancy something P90-ish, and seem to remember a mate saying these were definitely worth considering. Anyone here play one?

    Much appreciated!

    Nik

I briefly owned an SE One which is kind of the Junior to the SE Soapbar's Special.
Brilliant guitar but I had to sell it on because I'd got stiffed when i bought it and I couldn't get over it, made me feel like a mug every time I looked at it.
Had it been 'as advertised' though I would've been well chuffed. To my eye it left any Epi for dead in terms of build quality

I've got an SE One which is the single P90 version and its a good guitar. Neck is comfortable and the sound is very good as well.

They are very lightweight guitars and so good for gigging. The nuts on them aren't great and need a little work to stop the tuning slipping. Well made and so worth checking out.

The one I own has been played around with so I have a different P90 pickup than the original PRS unit. So I cannot really comment on their stock sound.

    They're decent guitars.

Another one to keep a look out for is the Godin LG SP90. It has quite a hot bridge pickup if they're still using the same Duncan set as when I had mine, but if you like that it is a great sounding P90 guitar, and the one I had was great quality too. I sold it after I came to the conclusion I didn't like P90s but it was a good guitar in terms of playability and tone. Personally I thought it was better than the SE Soapbar I tried, but YMMV both are a decent choice in the price bracket.

Used to have one which I got for a stupidly low price, shouldn't have sold it.

    Great guitar.
My name is Connor and I have a GAS problem.

I also have some videos of myself playing guitar. Here they are.

Thanks all. Will have a look, and keep an eye out for the Godin too.

    Cheers

Have an SE One and really happy with it. Stock p/up is fine but I have replaces it with a TV Jones T 90, which is a great pick up. I tried a few SE Ones in the shop i bought it in and they were all off the same (high) standard and did acomparison with a couple of LP Junirs. The SE one s were twice the guitars at half the price

I used to have one in sunburst. The going rate for them is a joke. I bought it for £200 and it is a hell of a lot of guitar for the money. Lovely punchy tones, chunky neck and good weight. Of course the selling rate is similarly low so I turned it for what I paid for it. I simply needed cash at the time and I knew I could pick up another one for the same price - it had a few dings so i wasn't worried about replacing it with one in worse condition. The long term goal was to get a mccarty soapbar though! To be honest, the second hand market for all the PRS SE guitars is great for buyers, just remember that if you find one going for a little more than you'd like to pay! There is a Tremonti SE going for £200 near me and if I didn't already have one I'd snap it up in a second.

edit: great gigging guitar too to offset standard humbucker guitars - shameless plug for the band.
