Default Steven Wilson - The Raven that refused to sing

Steven Wilson's new album was released yesterday and having listening to it twice I am amazed at the quality of the song writing, musicianship and production. Not surprising given Steven's pedigree and being backed by a crack band with Guthrie Govan on guitar and produced by Alan Parsons. The theme of the CD is mortality .. grown up prog rock.

This gives you an idea of the music:

    Highly recommended album.

This should be sat on my doormat when I get home tonight.

I've been a Porcupine Tree fan since 'Lightbulb Son' came out and I'm dead excited about hearing this in full.

Just wish the tour was taking in some midlands dates.

I'm saving it for the weekend, when I can sit down and listen to it back to back without rushing.

Listening to it now - very impressed.

Can't wait to see the live show on Monday at the Royal Festival Hall.

I've popped it on my iPod and am listening to it as a type this .. the mix is complex with some very subtle guitar lines from Guthrie that remind me of Steve Hackett in Genesis. You hear something new each time you listen to it. Apparently Steve was inspired after reading some classic Gothic horror stories.

I was bitterly disappointed in The Incident. I felt it was a rushed album to meet corporate record contract bollocks.

Those samples above have reinstated my faith.

Still pissed he's not had a lot to do with the new blackfield offering!!!!!
