Elevated BP is not a guaranteed indication of a heart attack. My BP was fine throughout mine. Shortness of breath and chest pain = 999 IMO. Not posting on a forum ! It is probably nothing major (as it appears is the case with you), but if it IS something serious then you have a very small time window indeed.

Basically it boils down to a personal decision between a) 'wasting' the time of the emergency services and/or feeling a bit of a dick, and b) convincing yourself it's probably nothing / see how it pans out, to avoid a).

Trouble is, if it is something serious (and bear in mind that 438 people die every single day in the UK from heart disease), and you've chosen option b), then... good luck... you're gonna need it.

Personally I'd rather be saying "Oh I feel rather silly now, sorry to waste your time.." than "Aaaagghhhhhh, I... I should ha.... <thud>".

Yeah, this. I woke up in the middle of the night once with chest pain, palpitations and pain in my left arm...it seemed to come and go, so I figured calling NHS Direct would be the best option rather than bother the emergency services (sounds stupid now that I'm writing it). Spoke to a lovely lady who was no more than a call centre operator, who said a qualified medical bod would call me ASAP.

They did call back - 2 hours later, when it clearly would no longer be a problem (either it would've subsided or I'd be dead). Fucking useless.
