    Default First practice with GT8.......

    ...........went very well.

I've connected via the 4 cable method, thus using my JVM preamp as part of the f/x chain. Very cool feature if you ask me. The thought of pressing 1 button and taking out my JVM preamp and replacing it with a modelled amp is quite cool. Bit of a head-fuck at times though!

The midi thing is awesome aswell. I simply stomp on 1 switch and my amp changes channels, modes, master volumes and reverb whilst at the same time the GT8's effects change too. Very very cool.

If you have a JVM I'd seriously recommend getting a GT8.

Only thing is, I can't seem to get a decent modelled acoustic tone? It just sounds like a clean guitar signal? Any thoughts?

I used to have a GT8 just like yours. Pleased to see your happy with it and its working for you. Did you watch the DVD?

Re the acoustic sims on the GT8...I reckon your using humbuckers aren't you? If so then thats why...try it with single coils and its more realistic...but by acoustic it means electro acoustic ie piezo, so its never going to sound like a nice old acoustic no matter what.

Yeh apparently mine is strangely similar to yours! Thanks again.

DVD is a bit meh! He states the obvious about a billion times and says "ver very cool" far too many times to count. Was inifinitely better than reading the manual though. Boss (and all other manufacturers) should consider giving a basic DVD away. Quick start guide, etc. Much much better tan the manuals.

Acoustic problem - It was with h/b's so I'll give it a try with my Strat. I never knew it was an electro model though? All m/fx I've used in the past have been really accurate and sound exactly like a real acoustic. Have I just found the GT8's only weak spot?!!? Will try again tonight/tomorrow to get my sound right.

Currently I'm only using it for channel switching my amp via midi. I've added a wee bit chorus to the clean sound aswell but apart from that, there's nothing. Will start to tinker with it and hopefully find my settings fairly soon.
